The Department of Hematology and Lymphoma Chemotherapy with Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Unit functions as part of the Division of Lymphoproliferative Diseases.
The department was established in 2012. It conducts scientific research to study the effectiveness of various chemotherapy regimens for patients with aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, including research work to overcome tumor chemoresistance in patients with unfavorable prognosis factors (clinical, molecular genetic, etc.).
A considerable amount of experience has been accumulated in the department in the treatment of aggressive B-cell lymphomas (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, mantle zone cell lymphoma), indolent B-cell lymphomas (follicular lymphoma, marginal zone lymphoma, etc.). A study is underway to study the effectiveness of various chemotherapy regimens, as well as prognostic factors in patients with T-cell lymphomas: ALK-negative anaplastic, angioimmunoblastic lymphoma, chronic large granular lymphocyte leukemia and skin lymphomas.
New targeted drugs are being studied, which are especially important in groups of resistant tumors like "double hit", "triple hit" lymphomas, primary central nervous system lymphoma, ALK-negative T-cell anaplastic lymphoma, nodal and cutaneous anaplastic lymphomas, etc.
The department successfully runs clinical trials, including the development of new methods for the treatment of CNS DLBCL and conducts research work.
The department consists of doctors with extensive experience, including 4 Candidates of Medical Sciences and 1 Doctor of Medical Sciences. Employees participate in Russian and international conferences. The department is active in scientific work preparing articles, abstracts, posters for the largest journals in hematology and related disciplines. The department actively trains young specialists in their clinical residency and scientific personnel in their graduate studies.
