The main focus of the laboratory’s scientific and practical activity is the assessment of the health status of laboratory animals intended for research and scientific activities in the laboratories of the NMRC for Hematology, as well as the assessment of the conditions for keeping animals in the quarantine process before and after they are issued for experimental work. Based on the analysis of the results of regular animal examinations and the conditions of their maintenance by the animal health control group (hematological, microbiological, biochemical, pathoanatomical and parasitological studies):
- the primary laboratory diagnosis of infectious animal diseases is established;
- diseases associated with metabolic disorders and other violations of the physiological state of animals are detected;
- the quality of compound feed, water, bedding material, their suitability and safety for laboratory animals is checked;
- selective quality control of individual batches of experimental animals is carried out (control samples upon admission from nurseries, during stay, and upon withdrawal from the experiment);
- the state of zoohygienic conditions in the premises for keeping animals is checked;
- the effectiveness and reliability of all types of disinfection, disinsection and deratization are checked.
