Head of the laboratory- Andrey B. Sudarikov, Doctor of Biological Sciences
The laboratory was established in 1987 under the name "Laboratory of Mediators of Immunity and Hematopoiesis" and was part of the Institute of Experimental Hematology and Biotechnology of the NMRC for Hematology of the Ministry of Health of the USSR. The first head of the laboratory was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Nikolai N. Voitenok. After the dissolution of the Institute of Experimental Hematology and Biotechnology, the laboratory became part of the NMRC for Hematology as an inter-institutional scientific unit. Since 1992, the head of the laboratory has been Andrey B. Sudarikov (pictured right). In 1995, due to the expansion of tasks, the laboratory was renamed to the Laboratory of Molecular Hematology. The activity of the laboratory is focused on the study of the molecular basis of blood diseases and developing methods for molecular diagnostics and monitoring of these diseases. During the course of the laboratory’s history, 13 Candidate and 2 Doctoral dissertations have been successfully defended. Many of the graduate students and laboratory staff successfully continue their scientific careers not only at the NMRC for Hematology, but also at various research centers in the Russian Federation, France, Italy, Germany, the USA and Canada.

KEY EMPLOYEES
Bella V. Biderman — senior researcher. Bell Biderman graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Molecular and Biological Physics (2005). She has been working in the Laboratory of Molecular Hematology since 2004. In 2007 she she placed first in a competition of young oncologists in the field of fundamental oncology within the framework of the All-Russian Oncological Congress. In 2009 she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences. She is responsible for introducing into laboratory practice the study of B-cell clonality by fragment analysis and HLA-typing by sequencing. She is the responsible executor of the research work "Molecular Basis of Oncogenesis" and co-author of a patent of the Russian Federation.
Olga A. Glinshchikova — senior researcher. Olga Glinshchikova graduated from the Faculty of Biology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (1990). That same year she was hired by the Laboratory of Molecular Hematology of the Hematological Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences as a senior laboratory assistant. She is currently working as a senior researcher. In 2005, she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences on the topic, “Internal standard for competitive PCR based on a retroviral vector.” Olga Glinshchikova has been actively engaged in the diagnosis of viral hepatitis B and C in hematological patients. With her participation, a diagnostic test system based on polymerase chain reaction has been developed and introduced into clinical practice for the qualitative and quantitative determination of hepatitis B and C viruses and parvovirus B19.
Tatyana V. Makarik - Senior Researcher. Tatyana Makarik graduated from the Faculty of Biology of the Irkutsk State University with a degree in human and animal physiology (1993). In 1993 she began her postgraduate studies at the Hematological Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. After completing her graduate studies in 1997, she was hired as a researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Hematology. Makarik participated in the development of a domestic test system based on polymerase chain reaction using sequence-specific primers for HPA genotyping. In the course of the work, the main immunogenetic parameters of HPA in Moscow cadre donors, the frequency of HPA alleles and genotypes in representatives of some ethnic groups were determined. A mathematical model was created to estimate the size of the cohort of HPA-typed donors necessary for patients with diseases of the blood system. The results of the conducted research formed the basis of the dissertation on the topic, “Molecular possibilities of genotyping of human platelet antigens,” which was defended on November 23, 2005 at the Scientific Council of the Hematological Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
Irina S. Fevraleva — Leading Researcher. Irina Fevraleva is a graduate of the Physics and Mathematics School No. 2 in Moscow. From 1974 to 1980 she studied at the Department of Biophysics of the Faculty of Physics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1980, she joined the Laboratory of Immunology of the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Health of the USSR as a senior laboratory assistant. In 1982, as part of the laboratory, she moved to the Institute of Immunology, where in 1987 she defended her thesis on the topic, "Study of changes in the state of proteins and lipids of the lymphocyte membrane under the influence of immunostimulating polyelectrolytes." From 1992 to the present, she has been working at the NMRC for Hematology. She completed an internship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA. She is a leading researcher engaged in the development of molecular methods for diagnosing blood diseases.
