Ekaterina G. Khamaganova specializes in the study of genes of the major histocompatibility complex (HLA).
She graduated from the Department of Biology of the V.I. Lenin Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (1980). Candidate of Biological Sciences (1993), Doctor of Biological Sciences (2003).
From 1980 to 1995, she worked at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Research Institute of Urology of the Ministry of Health of Russia (in the Laboratory of Immunology), as a senior laboratory assistant, then a junior researcher, and later a senior researcher. She has been working at the National Medical Research Center for Hematology since 1995. From 1995 to 2004 - senior researcher; 2004—2017 - leading researcher; since December 2017 - head of the Laboratory of Tissue Typing of the National Medical Research Center for Hematology.
Main areas of work:
- genotyping of the major histocompatibility complex (HLA) of donors and recipients in transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells (allo-HSCT);
- creation of a database of HLA-typed unrelated bone marrow donors / hematopoietic stem cells of the NMRC for Hematology;
- study of immunogenetic (HLA, KIR) profiles of various Russian populations;
- investigation of the role of KIR and HLA-DP genes in allo-HSCT.
Ekaterina Khamaganova is a participant of the following scientific congresses with oral and poster presentations:

Ekaterina Khamaganova is a member No. 1412 of the European Federation for Immunogenetics and an expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2016, she was awarded a diploma by the Russian Ministry of Health.
She is the author of the monograph "Human Immunology and Immunogenetics": M., "Triada-Pharm," 2002 (co-authored with Y. M. Zaretskaya and M.I. Gubarev).
