Head of the Department of Tissue Typing
Doctor of Biological Sciences
Ekaterina Khamaganova is an expert in the field of immunogenetics. She has been working at the NMRC for Hematology since 1995, first as a senior researcher in the Laboratory of Immunological Tissue Typing, then after defending her Doctor of Biological Sciences thesis, in 2003, on the topic: “THE MAIN HISTOCOMPATIBILITY COMPLEX IN PATIENTS WITH HEMOBLASTOSIS: HLA CLASS II GENE POLYMORPHISM” - as a leading researcher. Since December 2017, she has been the head of the Laboratory of Tissue Typing.
Under the leadership of Ekaterina Khamaganova, the typing of genes of the main histocompatibility complex by molecular genetic methods, including NGS (next generation sequencing), was introduced into the practice of the NMRC for Hematology.
Under her guidance, one dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences was defended (2022) and one dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences was submitted for defense (joint leadership with Candidate of Medical Sciences M.Y. Drokov).
Ekaterina Khamaganova annually participates and presents the results of scientific research at Russian and international conferences, including the EFI- European Federation of Immunogenetics.
