Olesya S. Pshenichnikova — Head of the Laboratory of Genetic Engineering, Candidate of Biological Sciences
Olesya S. Pshenichnikova graduated with honors from the Faculty of Biology of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2013. In 2018, she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences.
She has been working at the Laboratory of Genetic Engineering of the NMRC for Hematology since 2015, first as a researcher, then as a senior researcher (2019-2024). Since March 2024, she has been the head of the Laboratory of Genetic Engineering.
Her main area of interest is the study of hereditary hematological diseases (coagulopathies, disorders of the thrombopoiesis system, etc.) and the development of methods for their molecular-genetic diagnosis. During her time at the laboratory, she has taken an active part in the planning, organization and implementation of scientific projects within the framework of government assignments (2015-2017, 2018-2020, 2021-2023) devoted to the study and diagnosis of hemophilia, Willebrand's disease, rare coagulopathies, thrombocytopathies, as well as the study of rare variants of blood groups and the Rhesus system.
O.S. Pshenichnikova is continuously expanding her knowledge in this field of molecular genetics and is in the constant process of mastering new technologies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS). She has successfully completed courses on methods of statistical processing of biological data, bioinformatic analysis of NGS data, and machine learning for solving biological problems.
Pshenichnikova actively participates and presents the results of scientific research at Russian and international conferences. She is the author and co-author of 90 publications.
