In the Irkutsk Regional Hospital, blood is checked using a cell analysis line. To detect pathologies, the device assesses cells by the shape and structure of their nucleus. This way, the maximum results can be obtained with the minimum amount of time. A hematology station for calculating the cellular composition of blood reduces the participation of doctors in the process.
The device takes up to two thousand images per sample. Currently, in Russia, equipment like this is just beginning to be introduced. Irkutsk has become the third city where technology like this has been launched.
“Considering that we are actively developing hematology care in terms of bone marrow transplantation, we have powerful hematology services. Now, this equipment is the key to giving us a further impetus for development,” said Peter Dudin, chief physician of the Irkutsk Regional Clinical Hospital.
The Irkutsk Regional Hospital has been operating the station since August. According to doctors, the use of artificial intelligence will raise hematology research to a qualitatively new level: it will help in the diagnosis and monitoring of malignant diseases of the hematopoietic system.
For the good news, we would like to thank Natalia Saraeva, chief freelance hematologist of the Irkutsk region.
