"When I was given a preliminary diagnosis, my attending physician said: "... It's either him or no one." And so, I am already at the address Moscow, Novy Zykovsky Proezd, 4, NMRC for Hematolgoy". And he, Evgeny Evgenievich Zvonkov, head of the Department of Intensive High-dose Lymphoma Chemotherapy, Doctor of Medical Sciences, asked if I am ready to be seriously treated. I didn't understand anything yet, but I said that, of course, I was ready. Then, there was the question: "Have you completed all urgent serious matters at the moment? You will have to drop out of active life for six months.” And so, I became a patient of the department.
And then everything happened rapidly: tests, studies, a consultation, an accurate diagnosis. I was confused, desperate, hurt, scared and lonely. I believed that the patient is always alone, and the rest of the happy life is on the opposite side. However, it was a momentary state of anxiety. And then I was haunted, in a good sense of the word, by people in white coats and masks, constantly conducting various medical manipulations on me. At that moment, for me, they all looked the same, or rather a mask ;) It was only later that I saw that the most, without exaggeration, beautiful women I have ever met work here!
My second discovery was that everything is different here. Here the patient and the staff are really together. Together to such an extent that when the patient becomes ill, his attending physician, forgetting about the vacation, about the already bought tickets, returns to work and sits by the bed for as long as necessary: a day, two, until the danger recedes. And my fear, my despair, loneliness disappeared…
My third discovery: the entire department is a single organism that works smoothly, without failures. Because there are Professionals here! Professionals under the guidance of a Professional! They know everything and understand everything.
Today, six months of relentless care for me have passed, including appetite control, well-chosen treatment with constant minor adjustments depending on my indicators, daily conversations (with a detailed explanation of each appointment) with my attending physician Anastasia Valerievna Belyaeva, who guided me like a blind man along this difficult path of recovery. And I went back to my normal life.
And they stayed. They continue their work and they continue to save lives! These people live between us, between our joys and sorrows, we walk on the same Earth with them. The only difference is that they live so that we live. And this is their Greatness! It’s in their dedication, in their knowledge and skills, in their humanity and kindness! Low bow to them! I bow to every doctor of the department and every nurse! And a special bow to the one who gathered such amazing people around him, gathered them so that we could overcome our pain — Evgeny Evgenievich Zvonkov! All our prayers and words of infinite gratitude will always be addressed to this person!"
