"Hello to all! My name is Alyona. Two years ago I had no idea how dramatically my life would change. I was actively engaged in various sports, went to all kinds of courses, studied foreign languages, and worked steadily as a manager. But one day I felt a lymph node.
I had incessant pain, fever, growth of lymph nodes and, finally, I received a diagnosis: anaplastic T-cell lymphoma.
After that, I underwent 5 months of chemotherapy, nausea, pain, sepsis, pneumonia, bleeding ... relapse (return of the disease), another 3 months of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation…
And it’s been exactly one year, and I am healthy!
Two years ago, I didn't know anything about donation. Two years ago, I was admitted to the NMRC for Hematology in very serious condition with stage IV disease. My world had turned upside down.
About 30 doses of platelets were transfused to me per month… and for all 9 months of treatment.
But I'm alive! And I am alive not only thanks to the professional work of doctors and the support of loved ones (of course, special thanks to them), but also thanks to you, the donors! It was you who helped me to live on and enjoy life!
Now I work at the NMRC for Hematology in the donor department. I tell everyone who wants to donate blood all about donation. I hold concerts with the participation of famous bands and arrange various events for donors. And all of this so that you can see that you really do save lives, and that there are people who survived thanks to you, and that cancer is not a death sentence!"
