The head of the department is hematologist, Vera A. Vasilieva, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
The department as an independent unit was opened in November 2018 However, since 2016, the doctors of this unit have been engaged in outpatient admission of patients after BMT within the Department of Intensive High-Dose Chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplantation with Round-the-Clock Hospital (Head of the Department – Cand. Sci. (Med.), L.A. Kuzmina.)
The department is indispensable due to the increasing number of patients after BMT. The experience accumulated by the department in managing patients helps to coherently monitor, carry out diagnostic and preventive procedures for patients after BMT, and prevent serious complications at early stages. Patients are monitored throughout their entire subsequent life after allo-HSCT, more thoroughly during the first year after allogeneic BMT, since all significant events occur at this time. Particular attention is paid to patients with chronic GVHD, prevention of relapses and the presence of other complications after allo-HSCT.
In order to improve the quality of medical care, the doctors of the department created the "Patient Schools" project, which highlights potential problems and all topical issues related to allo- HSCT. All school lessons are recorded as video recommendations and posted on the website for transplant patients ( tkm.blood.ru ).
The department carries out clinical studies together with the Department Hemoblastosis Chemotherapy and Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and the Sector for Scientific Research of Hemoblastosis Chemotherapy, Hematopoetic Depressions and Bone Marrow Transplantation.
In 2021, the department, in conjunction with other departments of the NMRC for Hematology, received two patents for inventions within the framework of which therapy is carried out with cryopreserved mononuclear cells subjected to extracorporeal photoirradiation for the treatment of acute and chronic GVHD.
KEY EMPLOYEES
Olga M. Koroleva- hematologist. In 2010 Olga Koroleva graduated from the St. Petersburg Medical Academy named after I. I. Mechnikov with a degree in medical and preventive medicine. In 2012 she graduated from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical University named with a degree in general medicine. Since 2013, she has been working as a hematologist in the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation. She actively participates in the scientific activities of the department. Koroleva has about 130 publications and annually takes part in international and domestic conferences on the problems of allogeneic transplantation in hemoblastosis. Koroleva’s research interests include; early complications after transplantation, such as partial red cell aplasia, graft hypofunction, viral infections, including viral hepatitis, prevention and treatment of acute/chronic graft-versus-host disease, as well as psychological aspects in transplant patients. She is a member of the National Hematological Society.
Daria S. Dubnyak- hematologist. In 2014 she graduated from the Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I. Evdokimov with a degree in general medicine. In 2016, she completed her residency in hematology at the NMRC for Hematology where she stayed to complete her postgraduate studies. Subject of scientific work: "The role of chimerism in T-helper subpopulations in patients with hemoblastoses after allogeneic stem cell transplantation.” Areas of interest: the study of immunological complications in patients after transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells, the study of the characteristics of chimerism in patients after transplantation. She has more than 60 publications and annually takes part in international and domestic conferences on allogeneic transplantation in hematological diseases. She is a member of the National Hematological Society.
Olga S. Starikova- hematologist. In 2018, she graduated from Perm State Medical University named after Academician E.A.Wagner with a degree in general medicine. In 2020, she completed her residency in the specialty "Hematology" at the NMRC for Hematology. She is a full-time graduate student. Topic of the scientific work: "The role and regulation of T- helpers in patients with a chronic graft-versus-host reaction.” Areas of interests: prevention and treatment of acute/chronic graft-versus-host reaction, restoration of immunity after transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells, popularization of donation in the Russian Federation. Starikova is a co-author of more than 40 publications on complications of allogeneic transplantation. She is a member of the search group for unrelated donors in Russian as well as international registries. She is a member of the National Hematological Society.
Ulyana V. Maslikova- hematologist. Ulyana graduated from Samara State Medical University with a degree in "general medicine". She was trained in residency at the NMRC for Hematology in the specialty "hematology.” She is currently conducting dissertation research on the topic "Transplant failure in patients after transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells from partially compatible donors" for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. Area of interest: study of methods of prevention and treatment of immunological complications in patients after transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells. She is a member of the National Hematological Society and European Association of Hematologists. She is a member of the search group for unrelated donors in Russian as well as international registries.
Feruza A. Omarova - hematologist. In 2019 she graduated from the Dagestan State Medical University with a degree in general medicine. In 2021, she completed her residency in hematology at the NMRC for Hematology. Presently, she is completing her postgraduate studies. The subject of her scientific work: "Association of evolutionary divergence of HLA genes and structural features of their molecules with the outcomes of transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells in patients with acute leukemia." She is a member of the search group for unrelated donors in Russian and international registries. Areaa of interest: the study of immunological complications in patients after transplantation of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells. She is a member of the National Hematological Society.
Marina V. Perchenko — medical registrar of the Department of Immunochemotherapy with Day Hospital for Patients after BMT. Perchenko is an active member of the clinical division, helping to aggregate data obtained from various sources and is also a member of the unrelated donor search group. In addition, she is essential in facilitating interaction with laboratory units.
