The head of the laboratory is psychiatrist, Dmitry E. Vybornykh, Doctor of Medical Sciences.
Since 2000, the NMRC for Hematology has been actively working on the study of mental disorders in patients of the Center, both in the study of diseases associated with the somatogenic or nosogenic influence of hematological pathology, and those unrelated to it, as well as the development of therapeutic methods for such disorders. Representatives of the Center participate in domestic and foreign conferences devoted to the issues of psycho- oncology and psycho-hematology and regularly publish papers in domestic and foreign publications.
In 2012, the NMRC for Hematology created a special group for the study of mental disorders in diseases of the blood system. This group was reorganized in 2016 into the Laboratory for the Study of Mental and Neurological Disorders in Diseases of the Blood System. The laboratory is designed to conduct systematic research in this area, which is of great scientific and applied importance.
Among the main research areas of the department:
- study of conjugation of mental and hematological pathology, at the clinical, psychological and biological levels;
- in-depth study of patterns, features of manifestation, and course of mental pathology and personality disorders in certain forms of diseases of the blood system;
- study of the features of the course of mental pathology during bone marrow transplantation and personality changes occurring in the early and late post-transplantation stages;
- study of psychopathological and psychological mechanisms of symptom formation of dissociative disorders in patients with diseases of the blood system;
- study of the psychopathological and psychological structure and dynamics of post-traumatic stress disorder in patients with diseases of the blood system;
- study of neurocognitive functioning in patients with diseases of the blood system;
- development of psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic methods in the treatment of mental and personal pathology in patients with diseases of the blood system.

— neurologist. Svetlana Fedorova has been working with patients of the NMRC for Hematology for many years. She has mastered the entire scope of neurological diagnostic and therapy methods and is a specialist in functional diagnostics. Her research interests include cognitive disorders in patients who have undergone allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.

Lyubov V. Yesina is a medical psychologist. She graduated from the Sechenov Moscow State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia with a degree in Clinical Psychology. From 2020 to the present, she has been a postgraduate student of the Department of Neuro- and Pathopsychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Scientific supervisor - Associate Professor of the Department of Neuro- and Pathopsychology, Candidate of Psychological Sciences E. I. Rasskazova. From 2021 to the present - Assistant of the Department of Pedagogy and Medical Psychology of the Institute of Psychological and Social Sciences of the Sechenov Moscow State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia. From 2022 - medical psychologist at NMRC for Hematology.
