Head of the laboratory is Andrey B. Sudarikov, Doctor of Biological Sciences
The Laboratory of Molecular Genetic Diagnostics is part of the Division of Molecular Genetics, headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences Andrey B. Sudarikov. The laboratory specializes in the molecular genetic diagnosis of hereditary hematological and onco-hematological diseases. The team consists of highly qualified doctors and specialists with extensive work experience.
In the field of hereditary blood diseases, the laboratory performs molecular diagnostics of diseases such as coagulopathies (hemophilia A, B, C, hypoproconvertinemia, Hageman's disease, FV, FX, FXIII deficits, combined FV+FVIII deficiency, Willebrand's disease), porphyria, alpha and beta thalassemia, Upshaw-Shulman syndrome, hereditary thrombocytopenia and thrombocytopathies (Bernard-Soulier syndrome, gray platelet syndrome, Glanzmann thrombasthenia), hereditary erythrocytosis and accumulation diseases, hereditary fibrinogen disorders, Randu-Osler-Weber disease, protein C and S deficiencies, etc. Laboratory doctors perform a high-quality assessment of the identified genetic disorders.
The laboratory’s second area of work is the molecular genetic diagnosis of tumor diseases of the blood system, acute myeloid and lymphoblastic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic myeloid leukemia and myeloproliferative neoplasms, B and T-cell lymphomas, mastocytosis and multiple myeloma. Modern diagnostic approaches make it possible to accurately, quickly and effectively identify genetic markers that are predictors of these diseases. This increases the reliability of the prognostic assessment of the effectiveness of therapy and helps the attending physician choose the optimal therapeutic tactics, if possible, prescribe targeted drugs that most effectively affect the tumor with the identified genetic changes. The laboratory has extensive experience in high-throughput sequencing, determination of the mutation status of immunoglobulin heavy chain genes, allele-specific PCR of point mutations, assessment of B and T cell clonality, determination of chimeric transcripts and posttransplantation chimerism, and diagnosis of minimal residual disease. In difficult cases, an individual approach is used.
The laboratory employees actively participate in external quality certification rounds and conduct their own similar events that contribute to maintaining a high level of diagnostics. Active work is underway to study microsatellite instability, the STR profile of tumors, serum DNA markers, and the search for mutations associated with resistance to chemotherapy. New methods for monitoring minimal residual disease are also actively being developed. Our research is aimed at improving the quality of diagnostics and increasing the sensitivity and specificity of methods.
Since the beginning of the laboratory's work (2022), more than 20 new analyzes have been introduced into diagnostics.
Great attention is paid to the training and professional development of our employees as well as employees of other organizations. At the laboratory, doctors of clinical-laboratory diagnostics, laboratory assistants, and biologists are trained in advanced training programs. The laboratory also trains residents in the specialty “clinical laboratory diagnostics.” We actively share our knowledge, participate in scientific conferences and webinars, and publish the results of our research in scientific journals.
We strive to ensure that all patients receive the highest quality and most modern molecular diagnostics!
