Alla M. Kovrigina graduated with honors from the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov in 1983 She continued her postgraduate studies at the Hematology Laboratory of the Clinical Department of the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Health of the USSR, working as a researcher from 1986 to 1993 From 1993- 2000, Alla M. Kovrigina worked as a researcher at the Laboratory of Clinical Cytology at the Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N. N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In 2001, after professional retraining in pathological anatomy, she worked as a pathologist, then a senior and leading researcher of the Laboratory of Pathology of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of Human Tumors at the Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center. During her years of work at the Cancer Research Center, in addition to practical work as a pathologist and pathomorphological diagnosis of tumors of various localizations, her scientific interests focused on morphological and immunohistochemical differential diagnosis of lymphomas and onco-hematological diseases. This research was carried out under the guidance of Professor Natalia A. Probatova.
Kovrigina headed the work of the Russian Reference Center for the Diagnosis of Lymphomas, the joint Russian-German Reference Center (Würsburg, Institute of Pathology) out of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of Human Tumors of the N. N. Blokhin Russian Research Center. In 2006 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the development of modern principles of differential diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma and large cell lymphomas. In 2009 she was awarded the A.I. Abrikosov diploma of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences for the best scientific work - the book "Hodgkin's lymphoma and large cell lymphomas" (authors A.M. Kovrigina, N.A. Probatova ). She is a member of the European American Society of Hemopathology (EAHP) since 2006 and a member of the European Working Group on Bone Marrow Pathology (EBMWG), since October 2011 Alla M. Kovrigina worked as a member of the WHO expert group on the publication, "WHO Classification of Tumours of Haematopoietic and Lymphoid Tissues" (Lyon, 2008, revised classification 2017). She is a member of the editorial boards of the journals Clinical Hematology Oncology, Clinical and Experimental Morphology.
