.Anahit L. Melikyan graduated from the Yerevan State Medical Institute with honors in 1975 She completed her clinical residency in hematology at the Armenian Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in 1977 From 1977 to 1981 she worked as the head of the onco-hematological department of the Leninakan Oncological Dispensary.
She has been working at the National Research Center for Hematology since 1981, first as a graduate student and then as a research assistant. In 1995 she became a senior researcher continuing on to become a leading researcher in 2003 She defended her thesis on the pathogenesis and treatment of polycythemia vera (supervisor prof. L. G. Kovaleva) for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in 1984, and in 2008 she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic, "Non-tumor lymphadenopathies" under the guidance of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Sci. (Med.), Professor A.I. Vorobyov.
She has been in charge of the Scientific and Clinical Department of Outpatient Care at the National Medical Research Center for Hematology since 2011 She has been the head of the Department for the Standardization of Treatment Methods at the National Medical Center for Hematology since 03.02.2014.
Under the leadership of Anahit L. Melikyan, national clinical guidelines were developed for the differential diagnosis of lymphadenopathies, for the diagnosis and treatment of Ph- negative myeloproliferative diseases, and for the diagnosis and treatment of primary immune thrombocytopenia.
Anahit Melikyan is a leading specialist in these problems and is actively involved in the development and implementation of standards and procedures in practical healthcare aimed at ensuring correct diagnosis and adequate treatment of these diseases.
She has been a hematologist of the highest category since 1993, member of the local ethical committee of the National Medical Research Center for Hematology since 2009, member of the Scientific Council of the National Medical Research Center for Hematology since 2011, and member of the Dissertation Council of the National Medical Research Center for Hematology since 2013
As a principal investigator, she participates in international clinical trials. She is a member of the National Hematological Society.
