In 1986, Tatyana Tupoleva graduated from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical Institute with a degree in general medicine. Since that time she has been working at the National Medical Research Center for Hematology. She began her career in the Laboratory of Bacteriology and Prevention of Viral Hepatitis an AIDS as a researcher intern under the guidance of Tatyana V. Golosova. In 1997, the laboratory was restructured into the Laboratory for Clinical and Virological Diagnosis of Hepatitis and AIDS (more details).
Tatyana Tupoleva was an active participant in providing assistance to the victims of the earthquake in Armenia, establishing ELISA diagnostics of viral infections at the Research Institute of Blood Transfusion in Yerevan. In 1995, she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences on the topic, “Immunodiagnostics of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome in hematology and transfusiology.” In 2019, she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences, “Strategy for improving the viral safety of donor blood components.”
The main foci of Tatyana Tupoleva’s scientific activity are directly tied to the NMRC for Hematology and relate to the study of viral safety of blood transfusions, organization of donation of blood and its components, the work of the blood service as well as the features of infections caused by pathogens with parenteral transmission in patients with diseases of the blood system. Among them:
- the study of the infection levels with viral infections in patients with diseases of the blood system, including HIV1-2, hepatitis B and C, herpes viruses, the causative agent of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19
- the study of the structure of donor cadres and the frequency of detection of markers of hemotransmissive infections in first-time and regular donors of blood components
- the study of the features of nosocomial infections caused by hepatitis B and C viruses in the hematology clinic, including latent forms of the infection
- the study of herpesvirus infections in the event of complications during the treatment of the main hematological disease, as well as in autoimmune processes
- the development of methodological recommendations and draft regulatory documents on comprehensive examination for viral infections of hematology hospital patients and donors of blood and its components
In 1999, Tupoleva was awarded the highest doctor qualification category in the specialty, “Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics.” In 2012, she was awarded the highest qualification category in the specialty “Virology.”
Tatyana Tupoleva is a regular participant in international and Russian congresses and conferences, giving presentations. She actively advises residents, graduate students, doctors of various departments of the NMRC for Hematology, as well as other clinics in Moscow, and gives lectures.
